I frickin did it!

So guys we are on day #2!
I'm still in a pretty good amount of pain. Alcohol withdrawals are not for the faint of heart. It's not nearly as bad as last night when I had the whole sweating and chest cramp thing. My heartbeat went irregular a few times and I'm pretty sure I had a couple of seizures. There were 4 times I lost a few minutes and when I came around I had the worst headache.
I kind of wish I would have just went out to Reid to detox. It was really scary going it alone. Seeing as I am poor with no insurance, a hospital stay was not an option. Somehow I hung tough!
I want to thank you all dear readers! I was amazed by all the emails, phone calls, and prayers. I'm so lucky to have all of the "virtual" support of readers, friends, and family
I truly think I'm gonna make it this time. I have too much to live for, and I was killing myself slowly but surely. If my liver could talk it would ask me "why?" and probably slap me!
Well gonna sign off for now and have a water balloon war with my awesome kiddos!
As always, thanks for listening and God bless!

  1. I keep mentioning to you that most alcoholics find that that cannot quit by themselves. The way that worked for me and for many others was Alcoholics Anonymous - not just going to a few meetings but getting a good sponsor to help walk you through the 12 Steps.

Remember that description of insanity - repeating the same actions and expecting different results. Admitting that you can't quit on your own is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of admiting that you have a problem that you can't lick on your own.

I know many people who have recovered, and some of them literally ended up living on the streets and lost everything, including their families, before figuring this out. I pray that you don't have to go that far.

Many people have also found that that a 30 day in-patient treatment program can be very helpful as well.

Better to find someone to take of your kids NOW for a month than to lose them permanently. Regardless of what you think, people who have 3 day blackouts are NOT good mothers, sorry.

  2. Jamie you keep doing what you are doing you have a ton of support here and elsewhere and if you need anything else im sure it can be found.

As far as your mothering skills your kids are great, polite and very well mannered oh and cute as hell :) Ive seen kids with parents who did not go on three day blackouts that fall far short to your parenting outcomes. and anyone would be lucky to have you as a mom. Not to mention i have seen you nothing comes before your kids nothing all i have no doubt if need be there would be no hesitation on your part to do anything for your kids.

Everyone makes mistakes Everyone has off days even off three days everyone deals differently. everyone has destructive tendencies its how you react after making these mistakes that matter. if you can make a mistake and come out of it with the desire and drive to better yourself and through your blog maybe others as well thats what counts and dont let anyone tell you differently. no matter how well intentioned...
